ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Create your own botanical repeating pattern in a relaxed, hands on workshop. Draw With Patterns is a series of beginner friendly creative workshops where you’ll learn how to draw on an iPad and turn your ideas into beautiful repeating patterns using the drawing app Procreate. For October’s golden magic, I bring to you a Marigold Pattern to explore the classic ogee layout which will allow you create a simple botanical drawing that repeats beautifully. With some clever tricks and guidance you’ll get your own version of the pattern and learn to create a template that you can reuse for other ideas! You don’t need to be an artist or have any previous digital drawing experience, the workshop is designed to help you have a go, build confidence and enjoy the process. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: - To get comfortable using an iPad and Apple Pencil for drawing - Learn to draw in Procreate - Follow a botanical template - Turn your drawings into professional patterns - Build confidence and creativity - Explore what you can do with your patterns! Like printing them on fabric. HOW THE WORKSHOP WORKS: The session is taught in person, with a live demonstration projected onto the wall so you can follow along step by step, in real time. There’ll be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, get individual feedback and work at your own pace. Refreshments (tea and biscuits) are included in your booking. WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Ideally, you’ll bring an iPad with Procreate installed and an Apple Pencil. There are 3 iPads with Apple Pencils available to borrow during each session, so you can try digital drawing and explore pattern-making before deciding whether you want to invest in your own equipment.
